May 20, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta – For the ninth consecutive year, Alberta business leader Shannon Bowen-Smed has been honoured as one of Canada’s top 100 businesswomen by PROFIT/Chatelaine magazines.

The president and CEO of BOWEN made the 18th annual PROFIT/Chatelaine W100 Top Female Entrepreneurs list again this week, ranking 66th. Since joining the company in 1984, Bowen-Smed is credited with growing BOWEN from a regional employment agency to an industry leader in recruitment and contractor management services for a wide range of sectors.

“I am truly honoured to be in the company of such a diverse group of entrepreneurs – business leaders who also happen to women,” says Bowen-Smed. “I’ve been very fortunate through my career to be surrounded by strong, smart women who mentored me and showed me the ropes. I feel like this award is for all of them, too.”

Organizers of the PROFIT/Chatelaine W100 rank female business leaders according to a proprietary formula that combines the sales, three-year revenue growth rate and profitability of their businesses. All data is verified through financial statements supplied by candidates. To qualify, candidates must be owners or significant stakeholders who at least share chief decision-making capabilities.
