BOWEN expands its network and addresses market demand for technical sourcing capabilities

BOWEN’s latest team addition addresses ongoing need for recruiting support for hard-to-find, skilled talent

CALGARY, AB January 11, 2017 – BOWEN, a leading recruitment and contractor management company, is delighted to announce and welcome Debbie Mastel to its Recruitment Solutions division, as our Senior Critical Talent Specialist.

Debbie has more than 25 years of varied industry experience and is recognized as one of the most well networked technical recruiters in Western Canada, especially within the energy sector. She has recruited for upstream, midstream, downstream and oilfield services at various levels within the organization. She brings in-depth understanding of her clients’ business processes and applies a rigorous due diligence into finding the best available talent.

Rather than simply play the numbers game, Debbie executes her highly coveted mapping and sourcing skills to identify top talent for her clients which she learned in the retained executive search business. By partnering with BOWEN, we now offer this new model under a contingency fee structure. The ability to only pay when the role is filled reduces the risk to our clients while still ensuring a thorough, full search of talent has been completed. Debbie brings value by designing road maps and sourcing strategies customized to each role that provides a clear and tangible understanding of the talent pool. Her addition to the BOWEN team expands our technical sourcing capabilities and truly addresses the ongoing need for recruiting support for hard-to-find skilled professionals.

“Organizations large and small continue to struggle to find highly skilled professionals to meet their critical talent needs in today’s evolving business environment,” said Benjamin Kemp, Vice-President, Corporate Development. “This strategic hire is a reinforcement of our commitment to providing a wide range of recruiting solutions to our clients and enables us to deliver even higher levels of value and confidence to our clients.”

“Joining BOWEN was an easy decision,” said Mastel. “This is an incredible opportunity for me to leverage my existing network and sourcing experience across a diverse set of job families and clients. The chance to join a team of trusted advisors who take an active role in ensuring their clients are supported with relevant workforce solutions is exciting.”

Debbie will be active on client files across Canada, and focused on hard-to-fill technical recruiting. Clients will benefit from her many decades of working inside Canada’s leading energy firms including Cenovus, Devon and Suncor, and her designation as a LinkedIn Certified Professional Recruiter.
